Well, it’s night here in Santa Monica at least, erstwhile nest of Harry (and John and Paul, at least for a day or two in the Seventies), so I thought I’d share a few Pussycats-era demos from “The Beatles’ favorite American artist.” (Thanks to the indefatigable Stephen Kroninger.)
This song has grown and grown on me:
I just love the expressiveness of Nilsson’s voice. On my (long) list of “wish that hadn’t happened” is his blowing his vocal chords out during the “Pussy Cats” sessions. After that his voice still had beauty, but the scars were really audible.
Not sure if I should post this, but I found it incredibly moving. If you don’t want it up, I understand. But I’d love a review of the film if Michael or Nancy see it.
Sam, I saw it and plan to review it next week (traveling now with only intermittent internet access). I look forward to hearing what HD readers think of the film.
